How to Use the Signfix New Zealand Calculator: A Step-by-Step Guide

Identify Your Wind Speed Region: Begin by determining the wind speed region for your location. For instance, Auckland and Hamilton fall under wind speed region NZ 1. This information can be found on the New Zealand Standards Wind Regions Map.
Select the Terrain Category: Choose a terrain category that best describes your sign’s location. For areas such as acreage and suburban housing, category 2.5 is a suitable choice.
Determine Soil Foundation Type: Enter your soil foundation type. We recommend consulting a geotechnical engineer beforehand to understand your site’s soil foundation.
Measure Your Sign: Accurately measure the width and height of your sign in metres and input these dimensions.
Select the Number of Posts: Decide on the number of posts for your sign.
Enter Mounting Height: Input the distance from the ground to the bottom of the sign. The minimum mounting height is 2.1 metres.
Post Spacing Value: This value will be automatically calculated based on the width of the sign and the number of posts.
Calculate & Receive Details: Finally, select ‘Calculate’ and enter your details. You will receive a detailed Signfix or Optimast post calculation with footing details in your email.
